What Does It Mean to Encourage?
Who convinced the early church to trust Saul of Tarsus after his conversion? It was an encourager by the name of Barnabas.
In this week’s LiveCalled Today, LFM’s friend and board member Stephan Tchividjian, Founder and President of the National Foundation of South Florida, looks at this biblical character from Acts 9 and 11. When the Christians questioned the authenticity of Saul’s conversion, they sent Barnabas to observe him. Not only did he do that, but he became an arm around the shoulder to Saul, mentoring and equipping him on the way to his transformation into the great apostle Paul.

PAUSE AND PRAY
Who in your life are you filling with courage? To encourage, which literally means to fill with courage, requires availability, intentional presence, and serving as an advocate. This ministry often takes time, vulnerability, and initiative. We all need arms around our own shoulders, and we all have opportunities to be that arm to others. Today, let’s pray we will make ourselves available to others who can both encourage us – and whom we can fill with courage.
